ISBN 9783768434645 Jaroslav Seifert, der Nobelpreisträger 1984, ist ein Dichter intensiver Sinneseindrücke, der ständig Farben, Gerüche und Klänge in sich aufnimmt und sie resorbiert. Jaroslav Seifert (* 23. September 1901 in Prag; ? 10. Januar 1986 in Prag) war ein tschechischer Schriftsteller und Träger des Nobelpreises für Literatur. Seifert, Vertreter des Poetismus, begann bereits Anfang der 1920er Jahre zu schreiben. Als Unterzeichner des kritischen Manifests der Sieben wurde er im März 1929 aus der kommunistischen Partei ausgeschlossen. Während der Besetzung der Tschechoslowakei im Zweiten Weltkrieg widmete sich Seifert patriotischen Themen. Auch nach 1948 kritisierte er mehrfach die kommunistischen Machthaber, und seine Werke wurden wegen seiner Unterschrift unter die Charta 77 zwischen 1977 und 1979 nicht in der Tschechoslowakei verlegt. 1984 erhielt Seifert den Nobelpreis für Literatur. Nach ihm ist der Jaroslav-Seifert-Preis benannt. The poetry of Jaroslav Seifert is considered one of the most beautiful achievements of Czech literature. While his early poetry reflected a proletarian fighting spirit, the poet`s later works were a poetic expression of his enchantment with modern civilization. More lyrical elements were evident in his later song-like poems reflecting his emotional relation towards the small gifts of life, his homeland and national culture. In the 1960s Seifert`s poetry changed profoundly - rhymes disappeared and his verse became rougher, with tones of melancholic nostalgia. The poet focused on such themes as life stock-taking, the passing of time and the motif of death as well as the recollections of childhood days, early loves, deceased friends and dramatic events in his life. In 1984 he became the first Czech to win the Nobel Prize for literature. There is a permanent display in Kralupy nad Vltavou, where young Seifert would stay with his grandparents and, later on, come for visits and where he was eventually buried, that recalls this author of numerous collections, including An Apple from the Lap and All the Beauties of the World. 88 244x170 mm ISBN: 9783768434645

Cullen Maiden Soul on Fire: Poems and Writings Authorhouse 2008 Cullen Maiden, Singer, Actor, Poet, Voice Overs, Singing-Acting Teacher, graduated Valedictorian, Central Senior High, Cleveland, Ohio, where he studied voice with Josephine Walker, singing in her A Cappella Choir, and later with the Prestonians' Choir led by Rev. Earl Preston, and with choirs led by William Appling; formed own soul, R & B singing group, The Caspians; won various singing contests, at this time also acting, his Drama Class teacher was Alvin Rashkow. Also at this time he was an amateur boxer for six and a half years, trained by Tiger Fann and managed by Elijah Wheeler. In Cleveland he also studied voice with John O. Samuels, Gretchen Garnet, and with Gordon Almstead at OHIO WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY where he received his Bachelor of Music Degree. Later he attended the JUILLIARD SCHOOL OF MUSIC in New York studying with Sergius Kagen; Benno Frank at the KARAMU LYRIC THEATER in Cleveland and with Boris Goldovsky at TANGLEWOOD. In Europe he also studied with Maestro Luigi Ricci of the ROME OPERA HSE, and with Profs. Harry Gottschalk, Herbert Brauer and Max Lorenz in Germany. He was recipient of the Rockefeller Foundation Opera Voice Scholarship, Munich.For many years Cullen Maiden was a member of Walter Felsenstein's ensemble at the KOMISCHE OPER, Berlin. Jagger, Chris The Adventures of Valentine Vox the Ventriloquist (LP 33 U/min.) Hamburg: Phonogram 6370112 D. 1974 Cover leichte Gebr.spuren (an der Klebestelle etwas lose, Platte gut Chris's career, unlike his brother has spanned many fields in the artistic spectrum, from clothes design and theatre to journalism. He has appeared in repertory at The Citizen's Theatre in Glasgow (his first play there was with one Pierce Brosnan), Nottingham Playhouse and the ICA in London as well as in TV and film. He has written for various magazines and newspapers including The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, the Mail on Sunday and Rolling Stone. His first records were made during the 1970's for David Geffen of Asylum Records in Los Angeles and he toured the USA and the UK. He revitalised his song writing in the late 1980's when he worked in France as lyricist for producer Franck Langolf [Vanessa Paradis] and helped brother Mick out on the Stones acclaimed albums "Dirty Work" and then later "Steel Wheels. Chris decided to then concentrate on his own material and the result was the critically acclaimed Sequel C.D. 'Atcha!' in 1994, a mix of Cajun style with Chris's individual brand of song writing. Acclaimed and respected music critic Tony Parsons in the Telegraph compared his lyrics to those of the famed Sammy Cahn. Contributions came from Dave Gilmour (Pink Floyd) and Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) on 'Lhasa Town, Leo Sayer and a touch of brother Mick on 'Stand Up for The Foot.' This record was later released in the US by Curb Records as 'Rock the Zydeco' where Chris and his band promoted the record on the Conan O'Brien Show for NBC. Additionally he arranged the music for the Bosnian charity concert - "Bop for Bosnia" -at the BBC in Studio One with Dave Stewart and Dave Gilmour and two subsequent concerts for Tibet in Battersea Park and Alexandria Park in North London.

An exhibition celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, The Avery Brundage Collection, winter, 1976-spring, 1977. San Francisco : The Museum, 1976. Einband mit leichten Gebrauchsspuren. Sonst sehr gutes Exemplar. - 1966 the museum did not own more than a handful of Chinese paintings. This was a conspicuous lack in a department so well rounded in all other media. Today, after a patient and systematic search, our section of Chinese paintings counts over 150 scrolls and albums dating from the 12th to the 20th century, with strong emphasis on the Ming and Ch`ing periods. The most spectacular addition may well be a huge twelve-panel landscape by Hua Yen. Prior to 1966 our Korean department was particularly strong in celadons of the Koryo period. We did add a few items to this important group, but also diversified our efforts by acquiring ceramics of earlier and later periods, as well as early Buddhist sculptures and paintings, including a rare representation of Buddha and the Eight Great Bodhisattvas. Most of our recent Indian acquistions have been in the realm of Buddhist, Jain and Hindu stone sculptures. These statues and reliefs date from the 2nd to the 15th century A.D., with, however, a particularly strong medieval contingent. All Lamaist and Southeast Asian cultures are also well represented and following a new avenue that was opened by Avery Brundage as early as 1963 we have built up the only full-fledged collection of Khmer sculpture in the country. "According to this theory the cells and their derivatives are composed of a number of particles called `micellae`, which are supposed to be composed of a number of molecules, possess a regular crystalline form, and in a dry state keep close to one another, owing to their mutual attraction; in certain circumstances, however, micellae attract water, which penetrates in between them and surround each one of them, and through this action arises tissue."
