Theorie, Kosmologie Stringtheorie Feldtheorie Bailin, D. and A. Love: Cosmology in Gauge Field Theory and String Theory. ISBN 10: 0750304928ISBN 13: 9780750304924 Bristol Instítute of Physics, 2004. FRISCHES, SEHR schönes Exemplar der ERSTAUSGABE. In excellent shape. ( NEUPREIS: 176 Euro!! ) - focuses on the cosmological implications of the gauge theories of particle physics and of string theory. The book first examines the universe`s series of phase transitions in which the successive gauge symmetries of the higher-temperature phase were spontaneously broken after the big bang, discussing relics of these phase transitions, more generic relics (baryons, neutrinos, axions), and supersymmetric particles (neutralinos and gravitinos). The author next studies supersymmetric theory, supergravity theory, and the constraints on the underlying field theory of the universe`s inflationary era. The book concludes with a discussion of black hole solutions of the supergravity theory that approximates string theory at low energies and the insight that string theory affords into the microscopic origin of the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy.Cosmology in Gauge Field Theory and String Theory provides a modern introduction to these important problems from a particle physicist`s perspective. It is intended as an introductory textbook for a first course on the subject at a graduate level. Originalbroschur. 24 cm XII,313 Seiten. INDEX. First edition. expandierendes Universum, kinetische Theorie Bernstein, Jeremy: Kinetic Theory in the Expanding Universe (Cambridge Monographs on Mathematical Physics) Cambridge University Press, 2004. FRISCHES, SEHR schönes Exemplar der ERSTAUSGABE.- In excellent shape. - Kinetic Theory in the Expanding Universe is a self-contained exposition of the applications of kinetic theory to basic problems in modern cosmology, such as the role of stable and unstable massive neutrinos and the theory of cosmological helium production. There has been rapid development of the theory of the origin and evolution of the universe in recent years, stimulated, in large part, by new observations and theories in astrophysics and particle physics. Bernstein takes a different approach and studies what can be concluded from the application of kinetic theory, and in particular the Boltzmann equation and its solutions, to cosmological problems. He begins with a brief survey of the necessary relativity, cosmodynamics, and kinetic theory, before going on to discuss specific problems, such as the role of stable and unstable massive neutrinos, electron-positron annihilation and the theory of cosomological helium production. The focus is in obtaining both a theoretical understanding and concrete numerical results. Originalbroschur. 21 cm VIII, 1149 Seiten. First paperback edition. ISBN 10: 0521675774 FRISCHES, SEHR schönes Exemplar der Paperback-Ausgabe in der Originalausgabe. . VERY FRESH copy. AS NEW. - ( NEUDRUCK auf ANFRAGE 138 Euro!! ) The book discusses the classical foundations of field theory, using the language of variational methods and covariance. It explores the limits of what can be achieved with purely classical notions, and shows how these have a deep and important connection with the second quantized field theory, which follows on from the Schwinger Action Principle. The book takes a pragmatic view of field theory, focusing on issues which are usually omitted from quantum field theory texts and cataloging results which are often hard to find in the literature. Care is taken to explain how results arise and how to interpret them physically, for graduate students starting out in the field. Many physical examples are provided, making the book an ideal supplementary text for courses on elementary field theory, group theory and dynamical systems. It will also be a valuable reference for researchers already working in these and related areas. Originalbroschur. Schiff, Wasserelastizität. Elastizität, Wasser , Schiffbau Bishop, R.E.D. and W.G. Price: Hydroelasticity of Ships . Cambridge University Press, 2005. FRISCHES, SEHR schönes Exemplar der ERSTAUSGABE. / VERY fresh copy. As new. A ship is a flexible structure that moves bodily and distorts when it encounters waves. This behaviour is potentially dangerous and it must therefore be predicted as a necessary part of ship design. Hitherto the theory of ship structures has had to employ simplifying assumptions, and the dynamical theory has been founded largely on the assumption of rigidity. This book, however, shows how the wave responses of a ship can be calculated using linear dynamics. This general treatment adapts the techniques of structural theory, hydrodynamics, oceanography and statistical theory to the needs of naval architecture. In a radically new departure the authors unify these various techniques in their systematic use of dynamical theory. The principles are applicable to offshore structures in general as well as to ships. ( NEUDRUCK auf ANFRAGE : Euro 71.- ) Originalbroschur. / rappers IX, 423 Seiten. INDEX. Paperback version. Dewitt, Bryce: Supermanifolds. ISBN 10: 0521423775ISBN 13: 9780521423779 Cambridge University Press, 1992. FRISCHES, SEHR schönes Exemplar der ERSTAUSGABE. - This is an updated and expanded second edition of a successful and well-reviewed text presenting a detailed exposition of the modern theory of supermanifolds, including a rigorous account of the super-analogs of all the basic structures of ordinary manifold theory. The exposition opens with the theory of analysis over supernumbers (Grassman variables), Berezin integration, supervector spaces and the superdeterminant. This basic material is then applied to the theory of supermanifolds, with an account of super-analogs of Lie derivatives, connections, metric, curvature, geodesics, Killing flows, conformal groups, etc. The book goes on to discuss the theory of super Lie groups, super Lie algebras, and invariant geometrical structures on coset spaces. Complete descriptions are given of all the simple super Lie groups. The book then turns to applications. Chapter 5 contains an account of the Peierals bracket for superclassical dynamical systems, super Hilbert spaces, path integration for fermionic quantum systems, and simple models of Bose-Fermi supersymmetry. The sixth and final chapter, which is new in this revised edition, examines dynamical systems for which the topology of the configuration supermanifold is important. A concise but complete account is given of the pathintegral derivation of the Chern-Gauss-Bonnet formula for the Euler-Poincare characteristic of an ordinary manifold, which is based on a simple extension of a point particle moving freely in this manifold to a supersymmetric dynamical system moving in an associated supermanifold. Many exercises are included to complement the text. ( NEUDRUCK auf ANFRAGE: 111 Euro!! ) Originalbroschur. XVIII, 407 Seiten. Index SECOND edition. offenes Quantensystem Theorie Breuer, Heinz-Peter and Francesco Petruccione: The Theory of Open Quantum Systems Oxford, Clarendon Press, 2010. In EXCELLENT shape. AS NEW. This book treats the central physical concepts and mathematical techniques used to investigate the dynamics of open quantum systems. To provide a self-contained presentation the text begins with a survey of classical probability theory and with an introduction into the foundations of quantum mechanics with particular emphasis on its statistical interpretation. The fundamentals of density matrix theory, quantum Markov processes and dynamical semigroups are developed. The most important master equations used in quantum optics and in the theory of quantum Brownian motion are applied to the study of many examples. Special attention is paid to the theory of environment induced decoherence, its role in the dynamical description of the measurement process and to the experimental observation of decohering Schrodinger cat states. The book includes the modern formulation of open quantum systems in terms of stochastic processes in Hilbert space. Stochastic wave function methods and Monte Carlo algorithms are designed and applied to important examples from quantum optics and atomic physics, such as Levy statistics in the laser cooling of atoms, and the damped Jaynes-Cummings model. Integralgleichung Gripenberg, G., S-O. London and O. Staffans: Volterra Integral and Functional Equations (Encyclopedia of Mathematics and its Applications) Cambridge, Cambridge University Press, 2009. SEHR gutes Exemplar. - ( NEUDRUCK auf ANFRAGE: 182 Euro!! ) The rapid development of the theories of Volterra integral and functional equations has been strongly promoted by their applications in physics, engineering and biology. This text shows that the theory of Volterra equations exhibits a rich variety of features not present in the theory of ordinary differential equations. The book is divided into three parts. The first considers linear theory and the second deals with quasilinear equations and existence problems for nonlinear equations, giving some general asymptotic results. Part III is devoted to frequency domain methods in the study of nonlinear equations. The entire text analyses n-dimensional rather than scalar equations, giving greater generality and wider applicability and facilitating generalizations to infinite-dimensional spaces. The book is generally self-contained and assumes only a basic knowledge of analysis. The many exercises illustrate the development of the theory and its applications, making this book accessible to researchers in all areas of integral and differential equations. - Nägeli`s (1817-91) micella theory, once popular, then regarded as too speculative and replaced with Bütschli`s theory, came much later with the support of ultramicroscopic X-ray investigations, to be shown as applicable in some cases. These studies demonstrated that micells, are sometimes `giant molecules`. "According to this theory the cells and their derivatives are composed of a number of particles called `micellae`, which are supposed to be composed of a number of molecules, possess a regular crystalline form, and in a dry state keep close to one another, owing to their mutual attraction; in certain circumstances, however, micellae attract water, which penetrates in between them and surround each one of them, and through this action arises tissue." (Nordenskiöld, p.554). Besides its significance in molecular physiology, Nägeli`s work relates to the theory of the structure of gels (see: Partington IV. 738-739). englische Einführung allgemeine relativitätstheorie Einstein Hobson, M.P., G.P. Efstathiou and A.N. Lasenby: General Relativity. An Introduction for Physicists. Cambridge University Press, 2006. FRISCHES, SEHR schönes Exemplar der ERSTAUSGABE. In EXCELLENT shape. - An Introduction for Physicists provides a clear mathematical introduction to Einstein`s theory of general relativity. It presents a wide range of applications of the theory, concentrating on its physical consequences. After reviewing the basic concepts, the authors present a clear and intuitive discussion of the mathematical background, including the necessary tools of tensor calculus and differential geometry. These tools are then used to develop the topic of special relativity and to discuss electromagnetism in Minkowski spacetime. Gravitation as spacetime curvature is then introduced and the field equations of general relativity derived. After applying the theory to a wide range of physical situations, the book concludes with a brief discussion of classical field theory and the derivation of general relativity from a variational principle. Written for advanced undergraduate and graduate students, this approachable textbook contains over 300 exercises to illuminate and extend the discussion in the text. Quantengeometrie, Geometrie, Quanten statistisches Feld, statistische Feldtheorie Ambjorn, Jan, Bergfinnur Durhuus and Thordur Jonsson: Quantum Geometry: A Statistical Field Theory Approach (Paperback) CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY PRESS, United Kingdom, 2005. ISBN 10: 052101736XISBN 13: 9780521017367 VERY good copy. This graduate/research level text describes in a unified fashion the statistical mechanics of random walks, random surfaces and random higher dimensional manifolds with an emphasis on the geometrical aspects of the theory and applications to the quantisation of strings, gravity and topological field theory. With chapters on random walks, random surfaces, two- and higher dimensional quantum gravity, topological quantum field theories and Monte Carlo simulations of random geometries, the text provides a self-contained account of quantum geometry from a statistical field theory point of view. The approach uses discrete approximations and develops analytical and numerical tools. Continuum physics is recovered through scaling limits at phase transition points and the relation to conformal quantum field theories coupled to quantum gravity is described. The most important numerical work is covered, but the main aim is to develop mathematically precise results that have wide applications. Many diagrams and references are included.

Gas, kinetische Theorie Brilliantov, Nikolai V. and Thorsten Pöschel: Kinetic Theory of Granular Gases Oxford University Press, United Kingdom, 2004. VERY FRESH copy of this FIRST edition. - "Kinetic Theory of Granular Gases" provides an introduction to the rapidly developing theory of dissipative gas dynamics - a theory which has mainly evolved over the last decade. The book is aimed at readers from the advanced undergraduate level upwards and leads on to the present state of research. Throughout, special emphasis is put on a microscopically consistent description of pairwise particle collisions which leads to an impact-velocity-dependent coefficient of restitution. The description of the many-particle system, based on the Boltzmann equation, starts with the derivation of the velocity distribution function, followed by the investigation of self-diffusion and Brownian motion. Using hydrodynamical methods, transport processes and self-organized structure formation are studied. An appendix gives a brief introduction to event-driven molecular dynamics. A second appendix describes a novel mathematical technique for derivation of kinetic properties, which allows for the application of computer algebra. The text is self-contained, requiring no mathematical or physical knowledge beyond that of standard physics undergraduate level. The material is adequate for a one-semester course and contains chapter summaries as well as exercises with detailed solutions. Originalpappband. 24 cm XI, 329 Seiten. Index. First edition. Gravitation Belinski, Vladimir and Enric Verdaguer: Gravitational Solitons (Cambridge Monographs on Mathematical Physics) SBN 13: 9780521018067 Cambridge University Press, United Kingdom, Cambridge, 2005. FRISCHES, SEHR schönes Exemplar. ( Lichtspiegelung nur im FOTO!!) ( NEUDRUCK aud ANFRAGE: Euro 94.- ) This book gives a self-contained exposition of the theory of gravitational solitons and provides a comprehensive review of exact soliton solutions to Einstein`s equations. The text begins with a detailed discussion of the extension of the Inverse Scattering Method to the theory of gravitation, starting with pure gravity and then extending it to the coupling of gravity with the electromagnetic field. There follows a systematic review of the gravitational soliton solutions based on their symmetries. These solutions include some of the most interesting in gravitational physics such as those describing inhomogeneous cosmological models, cylindrical waves, the collision of exact gravity waves, and the Schwarzschild and Kerr black holes. A valuable reference for researchers and graduate students in the fields of general relativity, string theory and cosmology, this book will also be of interest to mathematical physicists in general.
